Mind & Happiness 108

Mind & Happiness 108

From the moment it rises from Deep Dreamless Sleep untill the moment it subsides once again in sleep, our Mind or “knowing Consciousness” is in a state of constant activity or doing. Without doing, without thinking or knowing something other than itself, our Mind cannot stand. As soon as it ceases doing, it subsides in Deep Dreamless Sleep, which is a state of mere Existence.

However, though in Deep Dreamless Sleep we remain as our mere “Existence Consciousness” we somehow appear to lack a perfect clarity of Self-Knowledge in that state.  If we clearly knew our True Nature in Deep Dreamless Sleep, we could not again mistake our self to be a Body or anything else that we are not & hence we would never rise again as our “knowing Consciousness” or Mind.

Throughout all our normal three states of Consciousness, we experience our “Existence Consciousness” as “I exist”, yet we somehow imagine that it is obscured by a lack of clarity of Self-Knowledge.  This lack of clarity of true Self-Knowledge is only imaginary, but because in our Imagination it appears to be real, it enables us to imagine that we are a “knowing Consciousness” in Waking & Dream & that we do not clearly know our self even in Deep Dreamless Sleep, when that “knowing Consciousness” has temporarily subsided.

How exactly we are able to sustain this imaginary lack of clarity of Self-Knowledge even in Deep Dreamless Sleep cannot be understood by our Mind or “knowing Consciousness”.  However, if we are able now in our present Waking State to scrutinize our “Existence Consciousness” sufficiently keenly, we will discover that this imaginary lack of clarity of Self-Knowledge never really existed.

That is, if we turn the attention of our “knowing Consciousness” away from all forms of Duality & focus it keenly upon our non-dual “Existence Consciousness”, which we always experience as “I exist”, we will begin to experience our “Existence Consciousness” more clearly.  The more clearly we experience it, the more keenly we will be able to focus our attention upon it.

By constantly practicing Self-Attention, therefore, we will eventually be able to focus our attention so keenly upon our “Existence Consciousness” that we will experience it with full & perfect clarity.  When we thus come to experience our “Existence Consciousness” with perfect clarity, we will discover that we never really experienced any lack of clarity of Self-Knowledge.

There is no Creation, no Destruction, no Bondage, no longing to be freed from Bondage, no striving for Liberation, nor anyone who has attained Liberation. Know that this to be Ultimate Truth.

[A brief note of explanation this Blog is entitled “Non-Duality & Science”, & so the more Science oriented pages (from what I like to think of as a “comic book”) have been posted there, while other chapters have been posted in the other Blog noted below. Science is a mental discipline that attracts some worthy admirers & participators.  Some of these, too few, are good prospects for the ancient teaching introduced here in many ways.  Otherwise certain Science topics like the Anthropic Principle, reinforce the general Theism which is a good idea in this materialistic age. A few other topics in Science, such as the Copenhagen II Max Born Von Neumann Wigner model of Quantum Mechanics, are worthy entries to the extent that they introduce Consciousness into the physical Sciences. All that aside, the real topic here is the pinnacle as Advaita Vedanta, Non-Duality that pinnacle being Ajata Vada, NoCreation. The great Teachers of the same include Sri Shankara & Sri Ramana Maharshi.  Both would support Theism in general & adaptations of Vedanta, such as Vishishtadvaita Vedanta Qualified Non-Duality, for those not making headway in Ajata Vada, their present course of growth might be better served with a temporary involvement in Qualified Non-Duality. The scientist who perhaps best expresses the influence of Qualified Non-Duality in Science, for instance, would be the quintessential “NewAge” Quantum Physicist, Amit Goswami. And so to that source, & the Quantum Activism he currently advocates [with a 1course  degree program], along with more than a half-dozen good books & former participation in the controversial What the Bleep movie, to him I extend enthusiastic endorsement, for that Qualified Non-Duality described in the context of Science.  I do not stand so much “with him”, as much as nearby saluting his good work. Again, as here, a goal is inserting Consciousness into Science & “saving the World.”]
