REALIZING NON–DUAL LIBERATION, ENLIGHTENMENT BY SELF-INQUIRY – PT 104

A single Source of Happiness with unlimited powers has to be accepted, Sri Ramana said, That, in itself, “flattens” the Ego completely. Your Body, Speech, & Mind are merely instruments. They are not instruments for worldly desire driven by an Ego, but they are instruments in the hands of a Higher Power. Thus, you stand Dis–identified (instead of Mis-identified). If you abide entirely Dis–identified & plunge into the depths of your own Existence, you stand as That which is utterly immovable. The inspired activities go on without your involvement in them. We may say that the Lord does them. That is the reason why some of the saints have jokingly said that they stand even higher than the Lord, because the Lord is doing everything, & they are just peacefully being immovable.

When one recognizes that the Source of Happiness & Peace is within, that Suffering is not produced by external factors (such as other people, objects, & circumstances or their absence) but is created by one’s own Delusion, he commences a Path to Self-Knowledge. Proceeding to Self-Inquiry within oneself as to “what one is“, is the practice.  Listening (sravana) to the Teachings pertaining to Self-Knowledge, Reflection (manana) upon them, & deep Meditation (nididhyasana) to be absorbed in their essential meaning support this Self-Inquiry to know the Self.  Eliminating Ignorance, or Mis-identification, by such Self-Inquiry results in Self-Realization, which is Freedom from Delusion regarding the Self, or Reality. One should know that the Self is not made of matter & is, therefore, not the Body. The idea of being a Body occurs only in one’s Mind.  All delusions are created & sustained only in the Mind. They are not physically caused. The Body does not produce Ignorance & Egoism & such. So one should quest within the Mind itself, transcending the Mind while destroying its Illusions.
